It's time to get in the festive spirit and put your creative skills to use! In our last blog post, we naturally dyed some beautiful organic fabrics and trimmings which we've used to create some of our Christmas makes for you to try at home!
Napkins
Make your own napkins to complete your festive Christmas table this year and why not try naturally dyeing them with our autumn/winter recipes which you can find here.
What you'll need:
Fabric - we've used linen which we've naturally dyed with acorn cupules
1 x needle/sewing machine
Matching thread for your chosen fabrics we recommend using organic cotton thread
General sewing equipment such as fabric scissors, paper scissors, tape, pins, chalk etc.
TIP: Why not add some organic trimmings around the edges to finish off your festive napkins!
Method
Making time: Approx 30 minutes Step 1 - Cut napkin piece out (36cmx36cm)
Step 2 - Fold and press each edge over 1cm
Step 3 - Fold and press each edge over 1cm again and pin if necessary
Step 4 - Stitch around all edges 0.8cm from the outer edge
Christmas Stocking
The perfect festive make for the whole family to enjoy year after year! You can, of course, make your own pattern for these stockings but if you'd like the pattern that we used to make ours you can download yours here.
What you'll need:
80cm x 45cm of cotton fabric for the main stocking - I recommend a fabric which is at least 150gsm or more so it has some structure to it
56cm x 32cm of fleece or similar for the topper - I recommend an organic cotton fleece
25cm of 20mm wide tape
1 x needle/sewing machine
Matching thread for your chosen fabrics. We recommend using organic cotton thread.
General sewing equipment such as fabric scissors, paper scissors, tape, pins, chalk etc.

Dog Bone Christmas Stocking
We couldn't forget our four-legged friends now, could we! Make your very own dog stocking to fill with their favourite treats this Christmas.
What you'll need:
For the LARGE dog bone stocking you will need:
66cm x 33cm of cotton fabric for the main stocking - I recommend a fabric which is 150gsm or more so it has some structure
33cm x 85cm of fleece or similar for the topper - I recommend an organic cotton fleece
0.25cm of 20mm wide tape
For the SMALL dog bone stocking you will need:
55cm x 27cm of cotton fabric for the main stocking - I recommend a fabric which is 150gsm or more so it has some structure
27cm x 70cm of fleece or similar for the topper - I recommend organic cotton fleece
0.20cm of 20mm wide tape
PLUS
1 x needle/sewing machine

Reusable Advent Calendar
It's time to ditch the disposable advent calendars and personalise your very own reusable one. Fill 25 pockets with your favourite mini treats and chocolates for your whole family to enjoy!
What you'll need:
50cm x 75cm of cotton fabric for the backing piece - I recommend a fabric which is at least 170gsm or more so it has some structure to it like a denim/similar. We used organic natural denim fabric.
45cm x 60cm of mid-weight cotton fabric for the pockets - a linen or mid-weight cotton is ideal to give the pockets a little structure but not be too thick you won’t be able to hem them easily, 100-150gsm is perfect
1 x 45cm wooden 6mm diameter dowel to hang the advent calendar & string for hanging
1 x needle/sewing machine
Matching thread for your chosen fabrics. We recommend using organic cotton thread which you can find here
General sewing equipment such as fabric scissors, paper scissors, tape, pins, chalk etc.

We hope you enjoy making and styling your homes this season with our festive makes!
Happy sewing,
